The Daily Blend, a local Traverse City food truck, partnered with the TCAPS PE-Nut program to provide smoothie tastings at Blair Elementary School, Interlochen Community School and Traverse Heights Elementary School. Each school was visited by the Daily Blend’s stationary bike that comes with an attached blender. Just add some local fruit and they were ready to serve up a delicious and healthy snack! Students gave the bike a spin during their recess and had the opportunity to taste the fruits of their labor.
PE-Nut is a nutrition and physical education program that provides grants to encourage a whole-school approach to motivate students, parents and educators to be physically active and eat healthier. In PE-Nut, physical educators, classroom teachers and school administrators work together to improve nutrition and physical activity in K–5 school settings.
