Daily Announcements - May 13
Prom Royalty voting is open for juniors and seniors! The ballot is in your email and voting will end on Thursday, 5/15 at the end of the school day (4:00pm). The two students with the most votes will earn royalty status and will be announced at Prom on May 17th.
This last weekend the Traverse City Rowing team, the Tritons, traveled down to the Midwest Scholastic Championship Regatta and competed in our biggest race of the season. The regatta is held on the second weekend of May each year and consists of the 50 fastest teams from the 9 state midwest region competing in 36 events. Our small team progressed boats in all but two of our entries against teams with 2-3 times our number of athletes, qualified three boats for the Scholastic National Championship in New Jersey, and brought home two first-place finishes - the men's varsity single and the women's novice quad! This is the third straight year we've qualified in the men's single and the first time we've qualified a freshman crew for the National Championship!
Prom Tickets are being sold before school, after school, and during both lunches for $30. The dance is May 17th at the Grand Traverse Resort, starting at 8pm, and ending at 11pm. Doors close at 9pm with no reentry. To bring a sophomore guest or a guest from a different school, you must fill out the form in your morning announcement email. Guests must be registered by Wednesday, May 14th. Your approved guests must enter with the individual who purchased their tickets. No freshmen are allowed at the dance. You must have your ID to enter and no backpacks will be allowed in.
Dungeons and Dragons club is canceled TOMORROW, May 14. The remaining meetings for the year will be on May 21st, May 28th, and June 4th after school until 5:00.
Student Senate is having a dress drive! The dress drive will run until May 16th, and all donated dresses will go to the Student Support Network. There will be boxes outside the main office and the lower C-atrium office, and students are encouraged to drop off their dresses at those locations.
Fall Musical Auditions are coming up, June 2nd, 3rd and 4th after school. Auditions for "Urinetown" are open to all CHS students. Consider being a part of this hysterical, sarcastic musical that has great music and many underlying themes that keep the audience interested and laughing. At 3:30 p.m. on June 2nd, all students auditioning will be handed an audition packet (nothing needs to be prepared ahead of time), learn the music and monologue together. All students auditioning will then sign up for a solo audition (song excerpt and monologue) for Tuesday June 3rd, then Call-backs are Wednesday June 4th via signup genius. Stay tuned for those audition links.
Free prom attire for both men and women will be available in the Cafe during both lunches on May 14th. See Ms. McDonald in C108 for more information.
Lunch Today: Mini Corn Dog, Pepperoni Pizza Bosco Sticks, or Asian Bowl
If you see the following students in your class or in the hallway, please wish them a Happy Birthday: Owen Martin and Rhemi Reyelts.
