OPTIONAL CAFETERIA TASTE TEST: On September 26th, students will have the opportunity to try new food combinations! We’ll have a staff offering a sample of Quinoa Salad (quinoa, black beans, corn, tomatoes, bell pepper). Students will get the chance to vote whether they like it or not! The taste test is optional for all students.
HAPPY FEET: Happy Feet is back in action this fall! Happy Feet is a fun recess running program where students can run the track during lunch recess on Tuesdays and Thursdays and receive foot tokens on a necklace. Students collect these tokens throughout the year. This program will be starting this Thursday, September 28th and run through October. If your child participated in previous years, they can bring their necklace and add on. We will need parent volunteers to help out and cheer our students on! If you can join us for any of the dates, please sign up here! This is a fun extra at our school that is made possible by YOU! Thanks for considering!

Thank you for a great first week of school! I loved seeing all the smiling faces and students building connections with their class community!
NWEA TESTING: Our fall NWEA testing session will begin this week. Each class will take a reading and math assessment on two days over the next three weeks. NWEA is an assessment program we administer three times a year. The results of this assessment give us valuable information about your child and his/her academic needs. We’re able to adjust our teaching based on this information. To find specific days for your child’s class, please check the teacher communication.
LUNCH APPLICATION: I’m sorry if you had trouble with the link for the lunch application in my previous message. This one should work: https://traversecity.familyportal.cloud/ You can also find it on the TCAPS website: https://www.tcaps.net/about/departments/food--nutrition-services/free--reduced-lunch-information/ By completing the form, we’re able to receive grant money for extra staff on campus.
