Dear Long Lake Families,

PICK UP/DROP OFF REMINDERS: As we continue to navigate the start of the school year, I am sending a few reminders regarding Drop Off and Pick Up. Safety is our highest priority and for this reason, it’s important that we are obeying drop off and pick up procedures. Our procedures were included in our first day packets and also available here. It’s extremely important that families are using Crosswalks and designated parking spots. We are modeling for our students and cutting through grass areas to cross the road not only is unsafe for the crossing individuals but also clogs up moving vehicles in our lot. When we all follow the rules, the flow of traffic goes quicker for all. Also, it is district policy that pets are not allowed on school grounds unless they are specifically part of a classroom activity or program and with prior approval of related requirements. We understand that pets can be a beloved part of your family. However, bringing them to school during drop-off or pick-up can create additional stress for the animal and potentially pose a safety concern for both pets and students. Your cooperation in following procedures to keep everyone safe is very much appreciated.
OLYMPICS DAY ON FRIDAY: We hope our families are able to join us this Friday, October 4th, for our Olympics Day! We will start with an Opening Ceremony at 9:20 AM in the Amphitheater followed by scheduled Olympic Events for each class. The schedule for each class time can be found here.
LONG LAKE PTO OLYMPIC FUNDRAISER: The Long Lake Olympics fundraiser event is the biggest fundraising event of the year for the PTO. The students get to celebrate with the annual Long Lake Olympics field day on October 4, 2024. If the goal of $20,000 is met, this will be the only fundraiser of the school year! The money from this fundraiser provides reading programs, supplies for teachers and students, monthly family friendly events, supplies and learning materials for each classroom and overall teacher appreciation. In addition, the money helps pay for an all-school field trip, assist in purchasing supplies for the happy feet program, as well as provide exciting school community events throughout the school year. See information below for more details.

Dear Long Lake Families,
This is Mrs. Burwinkel with your weekly update.
Thank you for a great first week of school! I loved seeing all the smiling faces and students building connections with their class community! We really appreciate your caution and attention to procedures during drop off and dismissal. Each day is getting a little smoother! I know it’s tempting to park in grass areas especially at the end of our driveway, however this is a safety issue and we can’t have families walking along roadways. What we’re seeing is many families trying to arrive 15 minutes before dismissal. Which backs everything up because Preschool can’t get through and others haven’t dismissed yet. However, if you pull into the lot at 4:02, the flow is much better and you can often find a spot to park. This will continue to take time. Thanks for helping us keep all students safe!
