LL News: 2.11.24 Conference Sign Up and Kindergarten Info Night
Parent Teacher Conference Sign Ups: Our Winter 2024 Parent Teacher Conferences will be on February 27th (Virtual), February 29th (In Person) and March 7th (Parent Choice of Virtual or In Person). Please use SignUpGenius to schedule a time to meet with your child's teacher. You can sign up for conference times here. Families will have the option of meeting virtually or attending the conferences in person. We plan to have Virtual conferences on February 27th, In Person Conferences on February 29th and either can be scheduled on March 7th. However you can request any format on any of the evenings. Please indicate in the comment section of Sign Up Genius if you plan to attend in person or virtually. If your family chooses a virtual conference, you'll receive a google meet link to join the conference. If you experience problems signing up, feel free to contact our office at 231-933-7800 or your child's teacher. Sign up times for specials teachers are also available. Resource Room and Intervention Teachers will join student's homeroom teacher times. Also, if you’d like to meet with Mr. VanHouten (our art teacher) on March 4th, you can sign up here.
LL BOOKFAIR: During Parent/Teacher Conferences, Long Lake will be hosting a Bookfair! You can purchase in person or online here: https://www.brilliant-books.net/school-book-fairs. By purchasing books from our BOOKFAIR, you are supporting the Library at Long Lake! You can now shop the book fair catalog. When you check out, 25% of your purchase total will be credited to Long Lake Elementary for use to purchase books for our library collections!

INCOMING KINDERGARTEN/JR KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM: Do you have an incoming Kindergartener or Junior Kindergartener starting in the fall? If so, please fill out this form: LL Kindergarten/Jr.K Interest List. Filling out this form does not enroll your child; but it does put you on our mailing list. JOIN US: Our Incoming Parent Information Night is on February 12th, 2024 from 5:30-6:30 PM. TCAPS is also offering a district-wide Jr. Kindergarten Virtual Information Session on February 14th at 5:30 PM. This session will share specifically about our Jr. Kindergarten program. STUDENT RUN CREDIT UNION: This year Long Lake Elementary is participating in a TBA Student-Run Credit Union! The deposit days are February 14, March 13, April 10, May 8th starting at 9:05 AM. Our Money Magic Club is an excellent opportunity for student to create a savings account and start saving money at a young age! To sign your student up for a Money Magic savings account, please pick up an application from the main office or scan the QR code below. Once your student has an account, they can come to the art room to make deposits on our deposit dates. TCAPS Student Health Center is now open! Through a partnership with Northwest Michigan Health Services Inc., convenient and affordable primary care and behavioral health services are available to all TCAPS students ages 3-21. The TCAPS Student Health Center is open year-round. Health insurance or not, everyone is welcome. TCAPS Board of Education Monthly Office Hours The Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) Board of Education will host its next monthly “office hours” in person on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Horizon Books, 243 E. Front Street, Traverse City, MI 49684. The meeting will be located on the mezzanine level (second floor) of the bookstore. TCAPS Board office hours provide community members with the opportunity to talk to a school board trustee. This month, Trustee Bird is scheduled to attend.
FREE Parent & Caregivers Workshop: (CPI) Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. Northwest Education Services (North Ed) will facilitate a training series on positive behavior support: De-Escalating Challenging Behaviors based on the Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. (CPI) model. Parents and caregivers of students enrolled in grades K-12 and/or North Ed center-based programs are eligible to attend this training. Space is limited for up to 10 participants per session. Love and Logic® 6-Week Virtual Course
Love and Logic® is dedicated to making parenting and teaching fun and rewarding, instead of stressful and chaotic. It provides practical tools and techniques that help adults achieve respectful, healthy relationships with their children. This virtual course, offered through Pine Rest’s Traverse City Clinic, is based on the renowned parent training program “Parenting the Love and Logic Way,” co-developed by experts Charles Fay, Ph.D., Jim Fay, and Foster W.
