As an update to today’s events at Northwest Education Services (formerly TBAISD), the secure mode has been lifted for West Middle School, Central Grade Elementary, Traverse Heights Elementary, and TCAPS Montessori. Authorities have detained a minor who threatened the safety of students at Creekside School. No direct threats were made to any TCAPS staff or students. Buildings were placed into secure mode out of an abundance of caution. Normal operations will resume Tuesday, June 7 for all buildings.

Beginning Friday, February 18, TCAPS will recommend, but not require, masks be worn in all TCAPS facilities. As we prepare for this change, I am providing the following points of clarity.
Beginning Friday, February 18, TCAPS will strongly recommend, but not require, masks be worn in all TCAPS facilities. Please note, due to federal regulations, masks will continue to be required for all TCAPS transportation under a separate mandate.
SCHOOL IS CLOSED: All TCAPS schools are closed today, Friday, 1/28/22 due to building and transportation staffing issues. Classes for both in-person and UpNorth Virtual Live students are canceled.

With the goal to return all students back to face-to-face learning, the TCAPS Board of Education voted 7-0 to continue virtual learning for all secondary students grades 6-12 for the remainder of this week and reinstate the previous universal masking policy effective Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
