It's High 5 Friday! 🙌🖐
This week, high fives go out to:
1. West Senior High School students Tucker Ballenger, Owen Chadwick, Edward Chan, Jonah Dorsch, Jonas Heron, Graham Hetherington, Adeline Mulder, Brady Partlo, Katelyn Popp, Landon Rice, Trey Stewart, and Owen Wohlfer who have been awarded as National Merit Commended Scholars. These twelve students scored in the top three percent of all U.S. high school seniors for their PSAT/NMSQT performance. Such great role models for future Titans! 🌟👏
2. Central High School students, Bridget Belden, Abigail Houghton, Raven Mead, Charlie Schwarz, and Samuel Tursman, who have been named National Merit Commended Scholars. This title places them among the top academic achievers in the nation. They are truly awesome role models for their peers and a huge source of Trojan Pride! 🌟👏
3. North Sky Raptor Sanctuary for demonstrating the importance of being great stewards of our environment with the release of a hawk. Students at TCAPS Montessori had a truly unique learning experience for the International Day of Peace! It was an inspiring moment for everyone. ☮️
4. Traverse City Area Public Schools’ Safety & Security Director Patrick McManus and Deputy Core for a highly informative session on school and online safety! Our students learned valuable skills on how to make proactive choices and understand the steps for reporting any concerns. We appreciate this expert guidance that helps keep our community safe. 🛡️
5. Chelsea Park West's generous residents and employees for gathering amazing donations for our Traverse City Area Public Schools classrooms. Thanks to their kindness, our students will have the supplies needed to succeed! We are so grateful for our wonderful community partners. 💫

It's High 5 Friday! 🙌🖐
This week, high fives go out to:
1. Central High School’s four students who were named as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists: Arthur Lijewski-Lee, Alex Potrafke, Lillian Shev, and Helly Taylor. This recognition places them among the top academic students in the country. An outstanding achievement for our Trojan Community! ✨👏
2. Our TCAPS students who celebrated Constitution Day. They explored the history and significance of our country's signing of the Constitution of 1787. We love seeing our students engage with American history! 📜
3. West Middle School students in Mrs. O’Brien’s and Mrs. Somerville’s classes who used their tech skills for a fun, interactive review of text types. They are now prepared to explore informational texts. 🚀
4. Silver Lake Elementary fifth grade students who engaged in a science experiment to see the effects of the Earth’s rotation. By tracing their shadows in the morning and again in the afternoon, they got a visual lesson on how our planet's movement affects what we see. So cool! 🌎
5. Dietary Specialists who planned an awesome Taco Tuesday at East Middle School this week! The walking tacos were a huge hit, and we are so grateful for the amazing cafeteria staff who help fuel their students so they can be active and engaged learners all day long. 🌮💪
