When there is a potential hazard outside the school, such as nearby police activity, we use SECURE. All exterior doors are locked, everyone stays inside, and normal activities continue inside the building.

This week, students emphasized color in their compositions. They learned how to edit a selective color image in Pixlr and also had a two day challenge of photographing liquid dye in water, the results are stunning!

A Hold action is used when hallways need to stay clear, such as during a medical event or maintenance cleanup. Classroom instruction continues as usual behind locked doors, while hallways remain clear until the Hold is lifted.

Engineering to save the crunch!
Students in Ms. Levine's science classes are putting their critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration skills to the test with an engineering challenge: designing protective packaging systems for crunchy snacks!
With clear design guidelines and material constraints, students are brainstorming ideas, testing solutions, making improvements, and working together to protect their snacks from damage.
This hands-on challenge is a great reminder that engineering isn’t just about building- it’s about asking questions, thinking creatively, learning from mistakes and working as a team to solve real-world problems.
We can’t wait to see which designs stand up to the crunch!

Not all fun and games! Students in Mrs. LaMott’s math class practiced teamwork skills and team roles that will support their mathematical collaboration throughout the year.
Today’s challenge? Working together to use a rubber band to move 10 cups into a row- without touching the cups!
It was a true test of communication, problem-solving and patience. While it may have looked like just a fun challenge, students were building collaboration skills they’ll soon apply to meaningful mathematical tasks throughout the year.
Today’s teamwork challenge = tomorrow’s mathematical application!
