TCAPS has designated next week Staff Appreciation Week. They are encouraging families to express their thanks or give a shout out to any staff member. You can email these messages to firstname.lastname@example.org, and they will share them throughout next week.
Eastern’s PTO is joining this effort. Families are welcome to bring any staff member a flower on Tuesday and a note on Thursday. We love to see the big bouquets that are created from student flowers. The PTO will also be recognizing staff with a breakfast on Monday, lunch on Wednesday, and treats on Friday. We are very fortunate to have such a supportive community.
We are closing in on the end of the year, and that means many fun activities will be happening. You can stay up-to-date by checking out the calendar on our website.
One of those events is a talent show for our upper elementary students. But in order to have the show, we need a volunteer coordinator. If you are willing to organize this fun event, please email Mrs. Jenkins in the office (email@example.com). The talent show is scheduled for Thursday, June 1, at 1:15 p.m.
Thank you to everyone who is calling the office before 2:00 p.m. with any end-of-the-day changes. This is incredibly helpful to our office staff as we work to make sure everyone gets where they need to be at the end of the day. Messages received after that time are not guaranteed to make it to your student.
Read Our Community, the TCAPS April 2017 district newsletter for district highlights and a listing of upcoming events.

Traverse City Area Public Schools had seven schools named 2017 Grand Traverse Regional Michigan GREEN School Awardees.
Please enjoy this long holiday weekend with your family. We can all come back next week refreshed and ready to finish the school year strong.
If your family purchased a brick/paver that edged the sidewalk along the NEMO play structure at Eastern, and you would like that brick back, please fill out this form: Eastern Pavers/Bricks.
You can either have your brick brought to Bertha Vos, or you can pick up your brick at Eastern. If you choose to pick it up at Eastern, you will need to wait until the abatement process is finished. We will notify you when that happens. Please share this information with Eastern Alumni who purchased bricks.
Also, please remember to call in any end-of-the-day changes by 2:00 p.m. This is a very busy time of the day, and we cannot guarantee that messages received after that time will get to your child. Also, any busing questions should be directed to the bus hotline: 933-1933. If the bus is late, or you have any other concerns, please call that number first. Thank you.
We’ve made it through our first week in our new (temporary) location. We hope your children are feeling settled, and we thank you for your patience and support as we all get comfortable with this transition.
We know that parking is limited in our new space. If you are at the school during non drop-off or pick-up times, you may parking in front of the building. We just need to keep that area clear for when buses are here. Also, please enter the building from the front entrance. If you do have to park in the back of the building, please make sure you still sign in at the office.
