Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) is urging all district families to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application for the current school year by October 1. The application remains critical to secure essential state and federal funding that benefits every student in the district.

"The Free and Reduced Meal Application is much more than just about meal eligibility; it's a vital tool that directly impacts the resources available to every classroom and every student in TCAPS," said Superintendent Dr. John VanWagoner. “These applications help us qualify for millions of dollars in state and federal funding that supports programs and services across our entire district, benefiting all our students, regardless of their family's income level. 

Funds secured through the completed applications help provide essential support for:

  • Reduced costs for essential programs and activities like yearbooks, field trips, and AP exams, making them more accessible for all students.

  • Equitable access to a high-quality education by funding critical staffing and resources that benefit every student.

  • Valuable educational extensions through enriching field trips, unique opportunities, and robust after-school programs.
