Mrs. Jackson's class recently completed their unit on Animal Classification, and as a special activity, they used Oculus VR headsets to "observe" animals in their natural habitats. While some students explored the VR experience for 10 to 15 minutes, the rest worked on their animal art projects.

Ms. Howey's 3rd-grade class recently completed their unit on Animal Classification. She was able to rent seven Ocular VR headsets for students to virtually "observe" animals in their natural habitats. The two programs they used were Nature Treks and Ocean Rift. Each student had the opportunity to spend 10 to 15 minutes in each program. While half of the class engaged with the VR experience, the other half worked on an animal-themed art project

The students earned a movie today by completing their WIG (wildly important goals). The goal is to follow the directions in the cafeteria. If they fill up the tube with ping pong balls, they earn a movie. All grades earned a movie Thursday and Friday! Way to go Westwood Wings!

Happy Halloween from the Westwood Superheroes!

We are getting ready for Halloween at Westwoods! We can't wait to see all the creative costumes tomorrow.

Mrs. Ray has put a lot of time and energy into making sure the kids have a great Halloween obstacle course.

This morning, we held our first Westwoods Wake-Up coffee and pastries sale. We want to thank everyone who attended, as well as our wonderful PTO, for organizing the event. The proceeds will be used to fund Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten field trips. The sale was a success and fostered a great sense of community.

Yesterday we had indoor recess. The kids made the best of it, playing marble run, dominos and coloring.

Westwoods cross country boys took home 2nd place at the all-city meet.

We had a wonderful Move-A-Thon today. Thank you to the PTO and volunteers, the staff for support and communication, and you, our generous families.
