The Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) Board of Education announced leadership updates following its recent meeting. Former Board Treasurer Scott Hardy was appointed Board Vice President, and Trustee Ty Schmidt was appointed Board Treasurer.
Additionally, following the resignation of Board Member Scott Newman-Bale on July 30, the Board is accepting applications from community members interested in filling the interim vacancy. The candidate selected will serve a term beginning August 24, 2026, and running through December 31, 2028.

Applicant Qualifications
Candidates must be registered voters in the TCAPS district, at least 18 years of age, U.S. citizens, residents of Michigan for at least 30 days, and residents of the TCAPS district for at least 30 days prior to appointment. Property ownership is not required.
