Ms. Babiasz’s, Mr. Dedenbach’s, and Dr. Witt’s ELA classes participated in the Flowers for Algernon Ethics Conference. The students engaged in academic conversation where they discussed their literary analysis of Daniel Keyes’s story “Flowers for Algernon.” This was an exciting collaborative experience for both students and teachers because it encompassed students from several different classes: department level, co-taught, general education, and honors. Each group was provided the specific supports they needed in order to be successful in this cognitively complex task.

Our students dove into history today in Mr. Perkins' class as they explored the different perspectives of people living in the Louisiana Territory and how each group viewed America’s purchase of the land! From settlers to Indigenous communities to European powers, students examined how this major moment in U.S. history impacted people in very different ways. Their academic conversations were thoughtful, engaged, and so impressive to watch.
