The spirit of learning is alive and well at East Middle School!🎄

From Ebenezer Scrooge discovering the true meaning of generosity to Tiny Tim reminding us all of the power of kindness, our 7th graders are diving deep into the Dickens classic and exploring themes that never get old. We’re pretty sure even old Scrooge would admit, “The ghosts taught me well… but these EMS 7th graders might teach me even more.”

Happy reading, and bless us, everyone!

Students took their Spanish family-vocabulary skills to the next level by creating math story problems about their families—yes, in Spanish! They then rotated through small groups to read and solve each other’s problems. A great cross-curricular moment in the target language!

7th Grade Honors Science is starting their new unit and this week has been all about asking scientific questions to guide the direction of their lessons, modeling their current thinking, and sharing with each other. The question at hand: Why are droughts, floods, and lake effect snow all getting worse in the same regions? To find the answer they must uncover how earth's resources are changing!

We’re so proud of a group of 7th grade girls who have gone above and beyond to support our special education students during gym and lunch. Their genuine care, friendship, and leadership have made a meaningful impact. As a small thank-you, we invited them to enjoy a homemade treat and craft activity. It was a great moment to reflect on the positive impact their compassion has made in our school.
