Introducing: TCAPS Reads!

TCAPS Reads is a district-organized effort to provide summer reading opportunities, including adding appropriate, self-selected titles to home libraries. During the summer of 2022, all TCAPS students will be provided with books to increase their home libraries for summer reading enjoyment and beyond!

Summer Reading Materials Now Available!

The TCAPS Reads Summer Book drive was extremely successful and we are beyond grateful! Summer reading materials for all ages and levels can now be found at the Boardman Administration Building (412 Webster Street), during TCAPS Summer Enrollment Tour events, and at all TCAPS buildings, starting August 1.

Don't Forget:

Summer readers who complete this short survey about what they're reading this summer will be entered to win prizes as a part of TCAPS Reads!

Have questions or need assistance with summer reading materials? Contact Katie Kubesh or call 231.933.1775.

Summer Reading Book Drive (Ended May 13)

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Our goal is to provide three (3) different opportunities throughout the summer for students to self-select appropriate titles for their home libraries. In order to make this a success for our students, we need the community’s help! As you are “Spring Cleaning” during the months of April and May, please consider donating your gently used books to the TCAPS Reads Book Drive for Summer Reading. The more books we can collect, the bigger the variety we can offer to our summer readers!

For school location, directions and/or contact information, please visit our Elementary SchoolMiddle School or High School webpages or select from the "Schools" dropdown at the top of this page.

Community Screening of Do It For Daniel

Traverse City Area Public Schools, in partnership with EverGROWTH Consulting and the Good Works Lab, presents a free community screening of Do It For Daniel at West Senior High School on Thursday, April 21, 2022.

Do it for Daniel is a documentary about Daniel Olson's life. An All-State quarterback for the Ishpeming football team, Daniel appeared to have it all. A great family and great friends, few people knew the battles of depression and anxiety Daniel was fighting on the inside. Daniel ultimately took his own life, not because he wanted to die, but because he just couldn't live with the pain any longer.

This movie is saving lives as it can be hard to tell who is suffering from the disease of mental illness—perhaps someone you love.

Coach Jeff Olson, Daniel’s father, has taken the documentary to 80+ schools in the midwest and facilitated hundreds of presentations in the Olson family’s quest to erase mental health stigma.

Jeff will present the documentary on April 21, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. and then be joined by local health professionals afterward for a conversation on local youth mental health issues.
