Showing and Panel at the State Theatre—November 4th

The East Middle School student-produced documentary “Predator & Prey: Opioids’ Savage Effect on our Communities” will be shown Sunday, November 4, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the State Theatre, followed by a panel including those featured in the film, addiction treatment professionals, and Families Against Narcotics (FAN) advisory board members, including Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Bob Cooney.

On Saturday, November 3, 2018, the Traverse City West Senior High School Robotics teams are holding a spaghetti dinner and silent auction from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to raise money for the 2019 VEX and FIRST Robotics teams at the Masonic Lodge (13360 S. West Bay Shore Dr.).

TCAPS Participates in the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program
West Senior High School student research project into space reaches funding goal

Traverse City Area Public Schools’ West Senior High School is pleased to announce that it has begun the experiment development and proposal phase of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) Mission 13 to the International Space Station (ISS) after reaching its goal of raising more than $20,000 to support the program.

TCAPS Working to Address Pupil Accounting Issue
State aid payment not impacted

Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) received a letter on October 16, 2018, via the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District (TBAISD), indicating that the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) directed TBAISD to deduct 102 full time equivalent (FTE) from TCAPS' prior year student count.

Board of Education Meeting Moved to Sabin Data Center—Oct. 22

Due to construction impacting the parking lot and area surrounding the Boardman Administration Building, the next Board of Education meeting, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on October 22, 2018, will be held at the Sabin Data Center in the Training Lab (2075 Cass Rd.).
