About Mrs. Sue Maxbauer...
Mrs. Maxbauer is a second grade teacher at Westwoods where she has been teaching for nineteen years. Before Westwoods, she was a Reading Consultant for Traverse City Schools and also taught Adult Education classes. Prior to that, she taught fifth grade at Pathfinder School in Traverse City and also spent two years in Las Vegas teaching sixth and seventh grade language arts. Her first years of teaching began in Marlette, Michigan at second grade.
Mrs. Maxbauer received both her Bachelor's Degree in Education and her Master's Degree in Reading from Central Michigan University. She also completed additional coursework from Grand Valley State University to earn her endorsement in Early Childhood Education. She continually updates her skills by attending workshops, serving on district curriculum committees and reading professional literature.
When Mrs. Maxbauer is not in school, she enjoys spending time with her sons Sam and Andrew and her husband Charlie. Sam is a junior at the University of Michigan and Andrew is a freshman at Michigan State University. She enjoys being outdoors - biking, walking, boating and gardening.
