About Ms. Brister...
Robin Brister teaches fifth grade at Westwoods Elementary. She is originally from Texas, receiving B.A. and M.A. degrees from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. During that time, she spent a year studying and student-teaching in Vienna, Austria. She began her teaching career in Austin,Texas, but moved to the Grand Traverse area to raise her family. Her children both recently graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
Ms. Brister has taught first through fifth grades for TCAPS. She has been actively involved in many district initiatives such as Teaching for Understanding, Looking Collaboratively at Student Work, Investigations InMath, and facilitating fourth grade Language Arts. She also attended Harvard’s Project Zero Summer Institute in Boston.
Ms. Brister enjoys knitting, cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
