Parent Involvement Opportunities
Parents are an invaluable assset to our program, and to their child's education. We strongly encourage parental involvement within our school community. TCAPS' Montessori offers social, educational, and informative meetings throughout the school year. We encourage parent participation at these functions. Here are a few ways that you can become involved in your child's education:
Montessori Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
Our PTO meets monthly during the school year. Parents involved in the PTO participate on many committees that encompass a large arena of activities within the Montessori program. Some topics may include nutrition, program promotion, program growth, foreign language, and parent resources/education. Please contact the School Office at 933-5608 for more information on how you can become involved.
Classroom Volunteer Opportunities
In the classroom communities, parents are an invaluable resource. Teachers will need a Room Parent(s) each school year. The teachers depend on their Room Parents for many different classroom functions and needs. Directors and Directresses will also send home class specific surveys, volunteer opportunities, etc. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom and will find it an enriching experience. Please speak with your classroom teacher about how to become a volunteer.
Classroom Observations
Parents are welcome to observe classrooms anytime after the first six weeks of a new school year. Observations are postponed until after the first six weeks in order to allow children to become comfortable in their new environment. To schedule a classroom observation, please call the School Office at 933-5608 or your child's teacher. Observations are limited to two adults at one time in respect for the children in the classroom. All observers will be greeted warmly an escorted to a special "observer" chair. We ask that you remain as unobtrusive as possible while observing.
