Introducing Kindergarten teacher Lisa Dzierwa:

The 2011-2012 school year marks the beginning of my 18th year of teaching! Teaching is not only my career, but also my passion.  I am from a family of strong educators and I love everything about school.  I love seeing the kids’ faces every morning, organizing my lessons, and continuing my own education.

I completed my undergraduate degree in 1990 from The University of Michigan.  As my teaching experiences progressed, I realized the importance of teaching reading, and I soon completed my Master’s Degree in Reading from Central Michigan University. I am trained in Reading Recovery, Michigan Literacy Progress Profile, READ 180 and Literacy Coaching. My background has brought me to a variety of grade levels, teaching positions and different schools. 

My husband Steve and I have been married for 20 years!  Our three kids are Andrew (15), Alycia (13) and Blair (12).  As a family, we enjoy many outdoor activities, healthy cooking and “hanging out” around our home.  My personal hobby is long distance running.

As a final note, parent/teacher communication and parent involvement are both important ingredients toward achieving academic success and guiding students toward their fullest academic potential.  I encourage you to visit our classroom.  Feel welcome to come in and sit down, or join in the activities.  Also, should you need to speak with me privately, we can make arrangements for that as well.
