READ 180

READ 180 is an instructional model providing organized instruction and classroom activity. The 90 minute instructional sessions begin with 20 minutes of with whole-group teacher-directed instruction and end with 10. During the 60 minutes between the whole-group meetings, students break into three small groups that rotate among three stations. The three stations include: small-group direct instruction, READ 180 software providing intensive, individualized skills practice, and independent reading. The READ 180 software also contains a built-in assessment tool called the SRI (Scholastic Reading Inventory) that is given to a student at any time to better monitor individual growth in reading.
