| February 3, 2012 PTO News Please join us at the next PTO meeting: Tuesday, February 7, at 12:00 Noon
2012 is in full swing now, and there’s a lot happening at Eastern – so don’t miss out!
PTO Board Members Needed for 2012/2013
With all the fun and exciting things going on, the end of the school year will be here before we know it! In light of this reality, it is time for the PTO to start looking for new board members for the 2012-2013 school year.
Our faithful president, Marcia Conlon, and trusty treasurer, Kristin Harnish, are both currently serving a second year in their respective positions. The PTO bylaws mandate that an individual must serve no more than two years in his/her position. Therefore, we need YOU to consider what position you could best serve our school in.
We know you’re out there, so please don’t hesitate to contact any of the current board members with questions or to discuss this matter more. Contact information is available on our website: www.easternpto.weebly.com.
Carnival Scheduled for February 17
The Eastern carnival is a kid favorite and promises to be a great night for the entire family! Our very own 5th graders will be helping set up and work at the carnival to raise money for their end-of-the-year trip, so come and enjoy a fun-filled evening and support our 5th-grade class. Special thanks to Karen Mast for organizing this event.
Eastern Heroes Projects Kick Off
This special project is geared towards teaching our children about issues and causes in our community and how they can help. In addition, it’s also a great opportunity for parents and families to get involved and support the causes as well. We can all make a difference in our community. Please see this newsletter for more detailed information from Heroes coordinator Jen Dutmers. And don’t hesitate to contact Jen to see how you can help (jigsduts@gmail.com). |
| January 6, 2012 PTO News Please join us at the next PTO meeting: Tuesday, January 10, at 7:00 PM.
Welcome back students and families - Happy 2012! We start off this new year with the kickoff of Eastern's Heroes Program! This amazing program provides our students with the opportunity to learn about and get involved with community service. Look for information coming your way soon and be sure to ask your child about his or her class' service project! Contact Jen Dutmers (933-0907) with questions about the program or to inquire how you can help.
Also this month, we say good-bye to our awesome librarian, Sue Miles. Thank you for sharing your passion for reading with our kids and all of your service! Our best to you in your retirement!
Thank you also to Deb Socks, Renae Gurthet, and all the other great volunteers who put in a lot of time and hard work at last month's Book Fair! The event was a huge success and helped raise money for our library; thanks to all who visited and supported the Book Fair.
