     Welcome to Traverse City Central High School and the 2008-2009 school year. We have much to be thankful about as we embark upon yet another exciting and challenging period in Central’s storied history.

The classroom renovations in F building, as well as the reconstruction of the parking area on Eastern Avenue, is all progressing and should be complete and ready for the beginning of the school year. Additionally, at Thirlby Field, the 4th and Goal folks have completed the renovations on the north side of the field. The installation of concessions areas, restrooms and locker rooms will greatly enhance what is already an outstanding venue.

     Transition planning has taken place. Schedules have been set and staff members have been assigned to accommodate the influx of 9th grade students to the building. It is with a sense of excitement and anticipation we welcome approximately 800 new students to the building.

     As you and your student begin this portion of your educational journey, I would encourage you to ask many questions and feel free to stop by the school to become as familiar as possible with our program. Continued efforts to communicate, on our part as administrators and your part as parents, will pay great dividends for all concerned.

     It is the school’s desire to make your time here at Central High School a productive and meaningful experience. We hope your child’s years are filled with fond memories and friendship that will last a lifetime.
