Summer Programs TCAPS has many exciting summer learning and camp opportunities for children of all ages. All programs are available to children living in the Traverse Area Region as well as those visiting the area for the summer. More information regarding all summer programs follows:
2010 TCAPS' Summer Adventure Day Camps - Ages 3 - 12 TCAPS’ Summer Adventure Day Camps are available to children ages 5 – 12 at all four camp locations. Three of our camps also accommodate 3- and 4-year old campers. TCAPS’ Summer Adventure Camps are licensed by the State of Michigan to assure safety, health, and quality measures are met. Staff members are certified in CPR/First Aid and have met training and regulation standards.

2010 Summer Program for Success - Grades 9 - 12 TCAPS' Summer Program for Success is open to all secondary students. Students enrolling in this program are offered the opportunity to remediate courses previously taken or complete courses where an incomplete or withdrawal was received. Dates: July 5 - July 23, 2010 Location: Traverse City Central High School To enroll in this program, students need to make an appointment with the Academic Learning Specialist to develop an Individualized Learning Plan for each class taken. Appointments can be made prior to July 1st by calling (231) 933-3540.
2010 "First Time Classes" Summer Program for Success - Grades 9 - 12 Taking a full academic load and still unable to fit all of the required courses into your schedule? Enroll in these four-hour courses and earn credit toward high school graduation. Upon successful completion of the class selected, students will receive a Certificate of Success which enables students to receive credit in the stated subject. Dates: July 5 - July 23, 2010 Locations: Traverse City Central High School Call (231) 933-3540 for further information. 2010 Online Courses Available For students who may be away from home during the summer or would like an alternative to the Summer Program for Success, online courses offered through Michigan Virtual High School or CyberEd Schools are a viable option to remediation or obtaining additional high school credits during the summer months. The online courses are fully aligned to the Michigan High School Content Expectations and are taught by highly qualfied teachers.
CyberEd Schools offers diagnostic assessments to determine which portions of the modular formatted courses each student needs to address to attain proficiency. This option is particularly attractive for credit recovery.

New for 2010: Michigan's Adventure Kids Day Trip TCAPS is offering a summer day trip for Grand Traverse youth entering 5th - 8th grades to Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon. Charter bus departs from TC West Middle School, 3950 Silver Lake Road, at 8:00 AM and returns at approximately 11:00 PM.

New for 2010: Boys' & Girls' Basketball and Co-ed Volleyball Leagues Summer leagues are now being offered by TCAPS for Grand Traverse youth entering 3rd - 8th grade. The three leagues available are Boys' Basketball, Girls' Basketball and a Co-ed Volleyball League. These five-week programs will take place at TCAPS high school and middle school facilities. League divisions are: Pee-Wee (Grades 3-4), Minors (Grades 5-6), and Majors (Grades 7-8). All participants will need to complete a Permit to Participate Form to participate in summer leagues.

League teams will be created based on a skills assessment of each player. Players should plan to attend the appropriate Player's Skill Clinic. Players will receive their team assignment, official schedule, and meet with their coach on the final day of the Player's Clinic.

New for 2010: Family Fun Trip to Tiger Baseball Game TCAPS is offering a summer "Family Fun" trip to watch the Detroit Tigers take on the Toronto Blue Jays. Charter bus departs from TC East Middle School, 1776 Three Mile Road, at 12:00 PM and returns at approximately 3:00 AM. This trip is family-oriented and will follow TCAPS' no drugs, no alcohol policy (includes cigarette smoking). All minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to participate in this event.

Boys & Girls Club of Grand Traverse Offerings for Grades 6 – 9
Boys & Girls Club, housed at TC West Middle School, offers a wide variety of programs for adolescents in grades 6 – 9. These specialized programs cover many areas: arts, crafts, theatre, sports, teen leadership, volunteer opportunities, and teen club room activities including table tennis, pool, foosball, air hockey, etc.
