Summer Programs TCAPS has many exciting summer learning and camp opportunities for children of all ages. All programs are available to children living in the Traverse Area Region as well as those visiting the area for the summer. More information regarding all summer programs follows:
Summer Math & Science Virtual Camps for Middle School Students See math move! See science sizzle! Grades 6 - 8 Math and Science Camp students use gizmos, innovative, state-of-the-art online simulations that make learning easy and lasting. How much would you weigh on the moon? Can you analyze a mysterious powder? Explore concepts online and join campers at Traverse City Area Public Schools for Math and/or Science Camps for an exciting learning adventure.

TCAPS' Summer Adventure Camps - Ages 3 - 12 TCAPS' Summer Adventure Camps are available to children ages 5 - 12 at all four camp locations. Adventure Camp for 3 - 5 year old children is available at the Traverse Heights Elementary location. TCAPS' Summer Adventure Camps are licensed by the State of Michigan to assure safety, health, and quality measures are met. Dates: June 19th - August 15th, Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

2008 Summer Adventure Camp Locations
New for 2008: Boys & Girls Club of Grand Traverse Offerings for Grades 6 - 9 Boys & Girls Club, housed at Traverse City West Junior High School, offers a wide variety of programs for adolescents in grades 6 - 9. These specialized programs cover many areas: arts, crafts, theatre, sports, teen leadership, volunteer opportunities, and teen club room activities including table tennis, pool, foosball, air hockey,etc. For more information or to register, call (231) 933-5968. K-5 Summer Learning Camp - Grades K - 5 TCAPS' Summer Learning Camp sponsored by the TCAPS Indian Education program, is a five-week summer camp for current K-5 students as well as students who attended preschool in the 2007-2008 school year. The camp focuses on improving skills in math, reading, and language arts. The combination of using fun technology with proven teaching techniques and activities provides students the ability to retain skills learned during the school year and encourages significant growth in their academic skills. Dates: June 23rd - July 31, Monday -Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:35 p.m. Camp will not be in session from July 4th - July 13th. Summer Program for Success - Grades 9 - 12 TCAPS' Summer Program for Sucess is open to all secondary students. Students enrolling in this program are offered the opportunity to remediate courses previously taken or complete courses where an incomplete or withdrawal was received. Dates: July 7th - July 25th, Monday - Friday Location: Traverse City Central High School To enroll in this program, students need to make an appointment with the Academic Learning Specialist to develop an Individualized Learning Plan for each class taken. "First Time Classes" Summer Program for Success - Grades 9 - 12 Taking a full academic load and still unable to fit all of the required courses into your schedule? Enroll in these four-hour courses and earn credit toward high school graduation. Upons successful completion of the class selected, students will receive a Certificate of Sucess which enables students to receive credit in the stated subject. Online Courses Available For students who may be away from home during the summer or would like an alternative to the Summer Program for Success, online courses offered through Michigan Virtual High School or CyberEd Schools are a viable option to remediation or obtaining additional high school credits during the summer months. The online courses are fully aligned to the Michigan High School Content Expectations and are taught by highly qualfied teachers.
CyberEd Schools offers diagnostic assessments to determine which portions of the modular formatted courses each student needs to address to attain proficiency. This option is particularly attractive for credit recovery.
