TCAPS' Kindergarten program will provide an exciting and joyful learning journey for your child. Preschool/Kindergarten Enrichment
Licensed all day programs for children ages 3-5 are provided in a safe, nurturing environment with an emphasis on literacy and language development. For more information on program locations, fees, or to enroll, please view the

Extended Day Child Care Program (Before and After School)
Licensed, extended day programs are available at all TCAPS elementary schools for students in grades Pre-K – 6. All offer flexible scheduling, personal attention from an experienced staff and enrichment activities that develop social skills, teamwork and interpersonal relationships. Montessori TCAPS offers a Toddler Montessori program for ages 18-36 months, a Primary Montessori classroom for ages 3-5, the TCAPS Elementary Montessori School for ages 6-12. Extended day programs are available for primary and elementary students. All programs follow the philosophy and methodology of Maria Montessori, which emphasizes a child-centered environment that develops character, skills and independent learning. TCAPS is a one of the few Michigan public school districts to offer Montessori.
Talented and Gifted (TAG) is an elementary magnet school that provides appropriate learning experiences to meet the academic, emotional and social needs of TCAPS students identified as gifted and talented. Classrooms are located at Central Grade School. TAG presents the TCAPS curriculum with a heavy emphasis on developing writing skills, higher reading levels and a greater integration of subjects.
Way to Grow is a school-based program for all families with children between birth and five years of age in Grand Traverse County. Recognizing that school readiness begins at birth, Way to Grow offers a variety of resources to families cost free, including home visits, playgroups, parenting information, early childhood experiences, preschool information, and developmental screenings. Ready “Four” School Program
This is a state funded preschool program for eligible children who turn four years of age on or before December 1st of the year of enrollment. Young Fives
Kindergarten eligible children with late birth dates (after May 1) can participate in the half-day “Young Fives” program designed for children who are age eligible but not quite ready for kindergarten. Chinese Immersion Preschool Program
A bi-lingual, bi-cultural preschool program is being offered as a pilot initiative through a partnership with Michigan State University's US-China and Confucius Institute. The Education for Global Citizenship (EGC) project combines the best of both East and Western educational approaches by using a 50/50 immersion model where students spend half of their educational time learning in English and the other half learning in Mandarin Chinese. Literacy Initiatives
TCAPS strives for 100% literacy proficiency among all elementary learners. Literacy initiatives provide a major emphasis on developing reading and writing skills.
Elementary School Social Workers
Social Workers are available to offer help for students experiencing difficulties which interfere with social, emotional and/or academic development and may impact their ability to make the most of their school experience.
