| TCAPS Library/Media The mission of Traverse City Area Public Schools' Library/Media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information, and to provide access to reading materials and technological sources to develop life-long learning skills. Central High School, West Senior High School, West Middle School, and East Middle School are staffed with one Library Media Specialist and approximately 2 FTE paraprofessional assistants. Traverse City High and the 13 elementary buildings are staffed with one 25-35 hour/week paraprofessional assistant. One Library Media Specialist coordinates the programs in the 13 elementary buildings. Materials and equipment are supplied through site-based budgets focused on mission. Highlights of the Library Media Program include: Access + Collaboration = Student Achievement Collections designed to support curriculum at all levels-includes print, electronic and primary sources Flexible schedules allow for libraries to be open all day for individual and/or full-class use, in most buildings Extensive patron use Reports available Research Instruction/Teacher Collaboration Group and individual reading/motivation and guidance Well-maintained, highly organized library media centers Automated circulation and online catalog-available for public use Research stations, standing and portable computer labs-vary by site Equipment-Digital, video, CPS, audio, etc...
