 The O.M.P.S. P.T.O. Technology Committee is organized for the purpose of supporting the education of children at Old Mission Peninsula School through the use of technology.

TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.

By providing access to almost 100 exciting educational activities, Elementary Zone encourages students to develop math, science, and literacy skills while learning to use the Internet. Various age-appropriate learning zones offer activities with colorful graphics and user-friendly interfaces.

Volunteers assist teachers in teaching children to use the 40 Netbook laptops supplied to our school by TCAPS.

Last school year, Old Mission Peninsula School's Kindergarten class, taught by Teacher Erika Fowler, has been communicating via the Internet with another Kindergarten class in Peru, taught by West Senior High School graduate Alex Gillett. On December 7th, Ms. Fowler's class enjoyed a personal visit from Ms. Gillett as she was back in Traverse City. Ms. Gillette brought greetings to the class from her kindergarteners in Peru.

Polycam Virtual Field Trips


   

A Polycom is a video conferencing tool that is used for many purposes.  Imagine a virtual field trip to a remote location with field experts! NASA? Aquatic Research? An interview with a Jazz musician?  The possibilities are endless.
