Dual Enrollment Information

Students in grades 11 -12 can enroll in courses offered through Northwestern Michigan College and earn college credit while still in high school. To participate students must qualify for admission to Northwestern Michigan College as well as meet the qualifications stated in the Postsecondary Enrollment Options Act, commonly referred to as Dual Enrollment. Youth Corps - February 8, 2008

Wally's World- Traverse Area Youth Corps Works to Improve Commons Area

Wally Chappel, Parkland Project Director and Parkland Intern, Chris Kelly worked with the Traverse Area Youth Corps to make outstanding improvements to the conservation areas at the Garfield Commons Open Space. This project included the cooperative efforts of Traverse City Public Schools, Michigan Works!, Garfield Township, and the District.

The enthusiastic members of the Youth Corps worked for days to clean up seven abandoned homeless sites that included almost five yards of trash, removal of a 12 yard sand berm on a main trail, spread 80 yards of woodchips on trails, installed 24 sections of whole log cedar fencing, and built 180 feet of boardwalk through a sensitive wetland area Whew!

TCHS Wins Regional Flag Football Championship - February 8, 2008
Traverse City High School’s Flag Football team won the regional flag football championship, held in Mt. Pleasant. Twelve teams competed for the championship during a two-week playoff period. Traverse City High School completed the tournament with a 20-19 win over Oasis in the semi-finals and a 28-0 win in the Championship over Odessa. The team completed the season with a 5-1 record and outscored their opponents 120-55 over the course of the playoffs.
