9th Grade Principal's Message
Hello Parents,
First of all, please allow me to say thank you for the great turnout at the freshman orientation on September 1st. It was wonderful to see so many of you, and your support and involvement are invaluable to your child's success here at West. We would not be who we are without your help. Thank you.
I will be sending informal notes once a week or every ten days just to keep you in the loop. If you would prefer not to get these notes, just hit reply, let me know and I'll take your name off the list. If you know of fellow parents in your circle who would like to get them and are not, have them email me and I'll add them to the list.
We are off to a great start this year. Your kids have figured out lunch already--one of the scariest times of the day for freshmen--and are old pros at getting the food they want and finding someone to sit with. If lunch time is still coming up as an issue at your home next week, please give me a call so I can help. Remember that you're invited to come have breakfast with your son or daughter once on the house, or anytime you'd like. Lunch is also a great time to come visit.
Our email system has changed in the district this year. Now, you can email any teacher by using the first 8 letters of their last name and the first two letters of their first name, followed by @tcaps.net.
Many of your kids will have to use a Moodle site for class work and homework. Our library is available before and after school as well as during the day for any student who does not have computer or web access at home.
As of today, the district is still working to finalize the 2009-2010 TCAPS calendar and www.tcaps.net has the dates of vacations posted. The calendar will be posted on both our school's and the district's websites as soon as it's finalized.
Monday is the last day for drops and adds in classes.
Parent Internet Viewer is available for your use. If you did not receive a username and password in the mail and last year's no longer works, you can have your child see Mrs.. McFarlan in my office and she will give him/her the information. If you prefer, you can call and ask for it to be mailed and she will send it to your home address on file, or you can come on in and pick it up. We don't send it via email or grant phone requests for security reasons.
I've attached a flyer regarding an upcoming Making it Count assembly for ninth graders. You are welcome to attend.
Some dates:
- Football tonight at Thirlby at 5:00 pm.
- Dance at the school afterwards
- Volleyball tourney here at the school tomorrow all day
Please don't hesitate to contact my office if you have any questions. I think that's about it for now. Have a great weekend,
Stephanie
