Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) is pleased to announce that Michele Greenan has been awarded the Michigan Institute for Educational Management (MIEM) School Administrative Professional Certification (SAPC) Award. This is a voluntary certification program sponsored by the MIEM, which is co-owned and operated by the Michigan Association of School Administrators and Michigan School Business Officials.
This Certification program is designed for school secretaries, administrative assistants, and others in administrative support positions in Michigan school districts. The purpose of the program is to expand knowledge, skills, and confidence, and to provide Michigan school districts with a tool to identify skilled administrative professionals.
“Michele is an outstanding employee,” said Paul Soma, TCAPS’ Chief Financial Officer. “She provides me with an exceptional level of high quality support and assistance that is indicative of an extremely qualified individual. Her self-motivation in achieving this certification shows her commitment to her profession and the school district.” Mr. Soma also stated, “It should be pointed out that she achieved this certification voluntarily, which provides a wonderful example for all to follow as it relates to taking ownership over one's own professional development. I am grateful and honored by the fact that I have the opportunity to work with Michele so closely.”
Michele has a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan Technological University. She was hired by TCAPS as a Fringe Benefits Specialist on May 8, 2000. She has since moved from that position to her current position as Executive Assistant to TCAPS’ Chief Financial Officer Paul Soma.
