Traverse City Area Public Schools’ Talented and Gifted Program (TAG), provides a learning community where each student is surrounded by a peer group of academically gifted learners throughout the day. This unique environment is one of the key elements identified as being essential to a successful gifted education program. TCAPS’ TAG program provides essential peer stimuli allowing the children to learn and share their ideas as well as enhances their emotional growth.
For families who may have missed the initial Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT), TCAPS is offering makeup testing for any current 3rd and 4th grade student in the community. Makeup testing will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Tompkins Boardman Administration Center, 412 Webster Street. Registration is required.
Students are screened for the program in the spring of their third grade year of school. Recommendations for admission to the program are based primarily on test scores, in addition to teacher and parent input. In 4th and 5th grades, students identified as talented and gifted are offered the opportunity to attend a magnet school located at Central Grade School.
Please contact the Gifted Services Office at 933-1772 to register for testing or for more information.
