Traverse City Area Public Schools’ Transportation Department will hold its annual fundraiser at the 2009 Northwestern Michigan Fair, August 2nd through August 8th.
Volunteers are needed to work the main entry, grandstand, ticket booths, the campground gate, and to sell pit passes. By working at the fairgrounds TCAPS’ Transportation Department will earn between $5,000-$5,500. Funds raised will be used for TCAPS’ Transportation Humanitarian Fund.
The TCAPS Transportation Humanitarian Fund was founded in May 2005 to help TCAPS employees and their families who experience hardships due to major illnesses or catastrophic events and may need assistance with medical expenses and/or insurance costs, funeral expenses, emergency house payments, lodging, and travel expenses. Since its inception the Humanitarian Fund has donated over $13,000.00 to this worthy cause.
