Eastern Elementary School first grade student, Sarah Porter, created her own quilt after being inspired by the book Papa and The Pioneer Quilt, by Rebecca Bond. The story was read to her first grade class in November by her teacher, Sheri Grow. The story tells about a family traveling by wagon train to Oregon, and a young girl who gathers scraps of cloth along the way so that she can make a quilt.
Sarah’s finished quilt was hung in the Eastern Elementary School library for everyone to enjoy.
