On Friday, December 5th, students from Silver Lake Elementary School shopped at Meijer Inc. with a local hero to buy toys for the Toys for Tots program. Meijer Inc. donated the money to Silver Lake Elementary students used to purchase toys. After shopping with a hero and making their purchases, students were able to give back to their community by donating the toys to the Toys for Tots Program.
Some of the local heroes that shopped with the students were police officers, firefighters, EMT personnel, and Marines. “This was a great experience for our students to be able to start volunteering at a young age,” said Silver Lake Elementary School Principal Terry Smith. “Students were able to become involved with the community and help others all while having fun.”
