On Wednesday, November 5th, Students from Traverse City Area Public Schools joined other high school students in the are as Youth GrantMaker’s to decide how $20,000 should be awarded to benefit youth programs and services in Grand Traverse County. The grant awards are part of $100,000 grant that will be awarded this month across the region for youth programs and services.
As a certified Youth GrantMaker, high School students have the opportunity to add this unique experience to their college application and resumes, earn community service hours, and be a part of forwarding $20,000 in grants to benefit youth in the county, through the Community Foundation Youth Grant.
To become a certified Youth GrantMaker, students must complete five steps:
- Attend a three-hour training session
- Complete a grant application investigation
- Attend a county grant-making meeting
- Present grant recommendations
- Complete a site visit for a previous granted
