In February 2009 Traverse City West Senior High School Varsity Softball Coach, Kathy Breece will be inducted into the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association (MHSSCA) Hall of Fame. Kathy Breece played college softball at Central Michigan University for four years under legendary coach Margo Jonker and earned a Bachelors Degree in Education and Masters Degree in Special Education from Central Michigan University. Kathy has been the TC West Senior High School Varsity Softball Coach for the past three years and is also currently Lead Teacher/Director at Sunrise Academy Alternative in Elk Rapids.
Kathy has organized a collegiate softball tourney in both Elk Rapids and Traverse City, bringing the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Central Michigan University, and Western Michigan to northern Michigan to expose young athletes and the community at large to Division I softball, as well as, organizing and developing the Northern Michigan Wave Fast pitch Softball, both directing and coaching athletes in the area during the summer months. She has been instrumental in promoting softball in northern Michigan and has influenced many young women to pursue the game of softball far beyond their high school years, both collegiate and recreationally.
Kathy will be honored at the MHSSCA Hall of Fame banquet in February 2009.
