On Friday, October 10th, Traverse City West Senior High School will hold an Academic Awards Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. in the auditorium in honor of juniors and seniors that achieved a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or higher during the 2007-2008 school year. The academic award is determined by the average GPA of the two semesters, not the cumulative GPA that is reflected on report cards and transcripts.
Students who earn a 3.5 or higher GPA are eligible to receive an academic letter the first year, a bronze pin for the second year, a silver pin for the third year and a gold pin at Honors Convocation in the spring of their senior year. A total of 288 students will be honored at the Academic Awards ceremony an earning one of the following awards:
- 23 Academic Letters
- 177 Bronze Pins
- 88 Silver Pins
Parents, family, and friends are encouraged to attend to celebrate the student’s achievements. A welcome reception for guests and students will be held in the Common area prior to the ceremony beginning at 9:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served.
