Traverse City Area Public Schools is pleased to host Todd Zoellick, Deputy Secretary’s Regional Representative for Region V of United States Department of Education on Wednesday, September 10th. Zoellick is one of the U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings’ top officials for the region that encompasses Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin and is headquartered in Chicago.
Todd Zoellick will visit with students and teachers at TC Central High School, TC West Senior High School, Freshman Academy, and Long Lake Elementary Schools. Zoellick will observe classrooms and will have an opportunity to learn about innovative programs such as SCI-MA-TECH, Traverse City YouthCorp, high school mentoring initiatives, and visible thinking teaching strategies.
As part of the visitation, Mr. Zoellick will also meet with TCAPS’ administration, parents, staff, students, and partners involved with the Smaller Learning Communities grant initiative funded through the U.S. Department of Education.
