For the fourth straight year, Traverse City Area Public Schools has received an excellent rating on its school bus fleet inspection conducted by the Motor Carrier Division of the Michigan State Police Department. TCAPS earned a 100% passing rating for the 2007-2008 school year with all buses passing inspection. Maintaining the high standards required by the state is a team effort of the drivers conducting pre-trip inspections, and mechanics performing the necessary repairs and maintaining a quality maintenance schedule. Bellaire school buses, which are maintained by TCAPS, also earned a 100% passing rating.
“All seven of our technicians are state licensed, and have multiple certificates of endorsement from the National Association for Automotive Service Excellence, not to mention all their years of successful experience in their chosen profession,” stated Phillip Haldaman, TCAPS’ Transportation Director. “With 130 school buses driving over 1.8 million miles per year in our district, there are a lot of mechanical things to tend to; this award is a significant achievement that recognizes that team effort, and we’re very proud of them.”
