The GirlTECH event will provide insights on career fields with solid employment opportunities and local training programs at the TBA Career-Tech Center and Northwestern Michigan College and network opportunities for approximately 250 female high school students from within the five county Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District and will feature career workshops in the fields of arts and communications; business, marketing, and technology; engineering and manufacturing; health services; human services; and natural resources and agriculture.

GirlTECH keynote speaker Maxine Lauer, Founder and President of Waterford, Michigan based Sphere Trending, LLC, will provide an overview of retail and manufacturing trends and energizing ideas for getting ahead.  Maxine will also facilitate a student panel composed of female students currently enrolled in non-traditional training programs.

Professional basketball player and Glen Lake High School graduate, Liz Shimek, from the Women’s National Basketball Association’s Chicago Sky will also be speaking at this year’s seminar program.

Please call Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District Counselor Carol Smith at 922-6281 for further GirlTECH information, or visit http://www.spheretrending.com/maxine.html for further information on Maxine Lauer.
