Traverse City East Junior High School’s Boys’ Track team clinched the Big North Championship title on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. This is the third consecutive year the boys’ team has been undefeated and won the Conference title. The team has won the title in 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, and 2008.
Outstanding performances included:
· Max Johnson – 1st Place, 3200-Meter Run and 1600-Meter Run
· Joe Prokes – 1st Place, High Jump and Shot Put
· Tyler Clark – 1st Place, 200-Meter Dash
· Ryan Gemmell – 1st Place, Pole Vault
· Boone Marois, Garrett Frain, Sem Novikov, and Tyler Clark – 1st Place, 400-Meter Relay
The Relay Team set a new school record time of 47.83.
· Tyler Clark – 2nd Place, 100-Meter Dash
· Boone Marois – 2nd Place, 70-Meter Dash
· Ian McGraw – 2nd Place, Pole Vault
· Geoff Rizor, Johnny Ackley, Caleb Thompson, and Max Johnson – 2nd Place 3200-Meter Relay
· Sem Novikov, 3rd Place, Long Jump and 3rd Place 400-Meter Dash
· Joe Prokes, 3rd Place, 200-Meter Dash
· Johnny Ackley, 3rd Place, 200-Meter Hurdles
· Johnny Ackley, 4th Place, 55-Meter Hurdles
· Geoff Rizor, 4th Place, 800-Meter Run
· Boone Marois, 4th Place Long Jump
· Gabe Couturier, 4th Place, Pole Vault
· Ryan Gemmel, Ian McGraw, TJ Schwanneke, and Garret Frain, 5th Place – 800-Meter Relay
· Gabe Morcote, Gabe Couturier, James Newland, and Ryan Gemmell, 5th Place – 1600-Meter Relay
· Connor Garland, 6th Place, Long Jump and 6th Place, 70-Meter Dash
