Traverse City Area Public Schools’ school social workers will host the 11th Annual TCAPS’ Peacemaker Day Rally on Thursday, May 22, 2008 from 9:45 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. at Traverse City Central High School. This year, 320 Peacemakers from seven TCAPS elementary schools will take part in the rally along with students from TC Central High School and TC West Senior High School who will provide leadership for the Peacemaker groups.
The Peacemaker Day Rally recognizes elementary Peacemakers who have had extensive conflict resolution training and have been volunteers to help students with minor peer problems in their schools – often giving up their own recess time. During the rally, Peacemakers will be intermingled from various schools into small groups and will take part in communication, cooperative, and problem solving activities. The day will end with a Peace Parade around TC Central High School.
The Peacemaker Day Rally is cosponsored by Traverse City Area Public Schools, Grand Traverse Community Foundation, and Drug Free Schools.
