Last April, Cherry Knoll Elementary School celebrated its 50th birthday with an open house and ‘50s style luncheon for its students, families, and community members. The school was originally dedicated in the winter of 1957. On April 19, 2007 the school will host a rededication and ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. in the gymnasium.
A fifteen-minute video, “Celebrating 50 Years at Cherry Knoll,” will be shown. The video includes original footage of Cherry Knoll Elementary School’s construction, dedication, and early field trips. Donald Wright, one of the first bus drivers, took the movies with his 8mm camera and is the narrator of the video. The video has been edited and set to music, including the Cherry Knoll’s Alma Mater and school song.
Community members and all past and present Cherry Knoll students, staff, families, and friends are invited to attend. A reception will be held in the school cafeteria after the ceremony.
