On Wednesday, January 11th, TC East Middle School hosted a National Geographic Bee competition for the school’s 6th – 8th grade geography classes. The top ten students advanced to the next round, answering geographical questions until two students remained. Seventh grade student Erin Huls and sixth grade student Paige Langum were the final competitors, who were each asked the tie-breaking question, “Cologne Cathedral, the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe, is located in the Rhineland region of what country?” Erin Huls answered, “Germany”, and earned the title, ‘School Champion’. Erin will take a written test to qualify for the State level competition of the National Geographic Bee.
TC East Middle School Geography Teacher, Ali Sullivan, is proud of her school’s continued participation in the National Geographic Bee, and offered, “It gives a venue for those who excel in the knowledge about the world around them.”
