On Thursday, February 9th, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Traverse City Area Public Schools will host an International School at Bertha Vos Information Night. The event will be held at the Acme Township Hall, and is open to all area students and families interested in learning more about the TCAPS International School at Bertha Vos. Information will be shared according to the following schedule:
Preschool information and enrollment 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Kinderdergarten through 5th grade information and enrollment 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Informal question and answer session 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
TCAPS is pleased to offer a Pre-K through 5th Grade International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme* at Bertha Vos for the 2012-2013 school year. The IB Primary Years Programme is recognized throughout the world as an exemplary school structure. It focuses on specific outcomes aligned with an international perspective, immerses students in service- learning, requires daily study in a second language, and utilizes a project-based approach to learning. As a result, students will develop world-mindedness and a global perspective. IB learners strive to inquire, to be knowledgeable thinkers and communicators, to be open-minded, caring, balanced, reflective, and are risk-takers. The Michigan Department of Education supports local school districts establishing IB programs at all levels. TCAPS plans to offer a 6th grade IB Programme* for the 2013-2014 school year. *TCAPS has applied for ‘candidate’ status to implement the Internatinoal Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme on a trial basis for the 2012-2013 school year.
