Central Grade School teacher, Ms. Jaye Lynn Trapp received a check for $1,000 from the MEEMIC Foundation for the Future of Education.  On hand to present the award were Adam Harvitt, representing the Harvitt Insurance Agency located in Traverse City, Kristy Mitchell, Director of the MEEMIC Foundation and Dan Fouch, Director of Gifted Programs for Traverse City Area Public Schools.

Ms. Trapp applied for the MEEMIC Foundation’s mini-grant to fund technology updates.  Jaye Lynn said:, “I am honored to have had my grant selected from such a large number of applicants.  The money received from the MEEMIC Foundation will be used to purchase a portable projector and digital presenter, which will give me the capability to create visually-engaging lessons that otherwise would not be possible.”

The Harvitt Insurance Agency regularly circulates information about the funding opportunities available through the MEEMIC Foundation by distributing grant applications at the local schools. “It’s clear in the grant she’s written that Ms. Trapp really wanted to make sure the Central Grade School students were using the most current technology.  While the mini-grant can’t purchase everything on her wish list, it’s a nice start,” remarked Adam Harvitt.

Created in 1992, the non-profit MEEMIC Foundation for the Future of Education offers mini-grants of up to $2,500 to Michigan educators.  For information about the mini-grant, or to apply online, go to www.meemic.com and click on “especially for educators.”

Please contact Jaye Lynn Trapp at 933-5651 or MEEMIC Foundation for the Future of Education Director Kristy Mitchell at (248) 375-7535 for more information.
