Today, Friday, September 24th, Willow Hill Elementary School will observe Constitution Day with a re-enactment by the Traverse Bay 912 Project. The Traverse Bay 912 Project is a group of over 100 members, which dedicates itself to the study of the Constitution. The presentation will include re-enacting Founding Fathers and Mothers in 10-minute skits with a 10-minute question and answer period to follow. Founding Father and Mother characters are:
- Abigail Adams – Wife of John Adams, author of many letters to Thomas Jefferson
- Ben Franklin – Scientist, philosopher, and statesman
- Frederick Muhlenberg – Minister and leader of “Black Robe Brigade,” a group of ministers who recruited volunteers for the Revolutionary Army. This family founded Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania.
- Mercy Otis Warren – Poet and playwright, “Conscience of the Revolution”
- George Washington – “Father of our country”
This event will take place at 3:00 p.m. in the Willow Hill Elementary School Gymnasium, 1250 Hill Street. Please contact Willow Hill Elementary School at (231) 933-8540 for more information.
