Beginning Monday, October 4th through Friday, October 8th Westwoods Elementary School students will observe Fire Prevention Week (FPW) by participating in a special fire prevention activity each day of the week. "Smoke Alarms: A Sound You Can live with!" is the National Fire Prevention Association's (NFPA) official theme for Fire Prevention Week this year. The schedule below reflects each FPW activity:
Monday Students will practice fire readiness specially designed to challenge teachers and students.
Tuesday Children in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Brownies (with the help of their respective scout leaders) will present to age-level peers what they have learned in scouting about fire prevention.
Wednesday The local Fire Department will visit Westwoods Elementary School and give presentations to students on fire prevention.
Thursday All students will STOP, DROP, and ROLL simultaneously in the school gymnasium as part of a whole school assembly.
Friday Students will practice fire readiness during their lunchtime.
