On Friday, September 24th, Traverse City West Senior High School in partnership with the National Writers Series will host best selling author, James Bradley. Bradley is the celebrated author of #1 New York Times Best Seller “Flags of Our Fathers,” recently made into a critically acclaimed film directed by Clint Eastwood. The book is the true story of the six men, including Bradley’s father, who raised the flag in 1945 on Iwo Jima.

Students from all three TCAPS high schools, as well as other local high schools, have been invited to this event. Due to limited seating capacity, the event is for pre-registered students (grades 9-12) only. The community will not be admitted into the event and is encouraged to attend Mr. Bradley’s evening presentation at 7:00 p.m. at the Traverse City Opera House. Call (231) 941-8082 for ticket information.

TCAPS and area schools are privileged to be part of an amazing partnership with the National Writers Series of Traverse City, developed by New York Times Best Selling Author Doug Stanton, whose vision and energies have made this event possible. At the evening presentation Mr. Bradley will also personally present scholarship awards to three students who wrote winning essays in the 2010 National Writers Series Scholarship Fund Writing Contest. The students will have the opportunity to do a special reading from their essays.
