On Thursday, June 3rd, Eastern Elementary School third, fourth, and fifth grade students welcome guest speaker Rasheda Ali. Rasheda Ali is an internationally known author and speaker who will speak to the students about Parkinson’s disease. Rasheda is the daughter of Boxing Heavy Weight Champion Muhammad Ali, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease. Rasheda was inspired by her father to write I’ll Hold Your Hand So You Won’t Fall - A Child’s Guide to Parkinson’s Disease by watching her own children interact with her father.
Ms. Ali stresses partnership, love, and support, which can not only strengthen a family, but also bring them closer together. Her speaking engagements and book signings have raised funds and awareness for Parkinson’s disease organizations all over the world. Eastern Elementary School families and community are invited to attend this event that will be held from 9:30 a.m. to
10:30 a.m. in the school gymnasium, 1600 Eastern Avenue.
