Traverse City Area Public Schools is proud to announce Traverse City West Senior High School’s Chorale has been selected as a semi-finalist in the spring 2010 competition of The American Prize in the Choral Performance category. The American Prize is a series of new, non-profit, national competitions unique in scope and structure, providing cash awards, professional adjudication and regional, national and international recognition. Each year, The American Prize rewards the best recorded performances of music by individuals and ensembles in the United States at the professional, community/amateur, college/university, church, and school levels.
“This is a brand new award this year, so it is all new ground for us,” commented TC West Senior High School Chorale Director Russ Larimer. “I really like the goals that the American Prize organizers are pursuing. I respect their stringent application process, and the award has the support of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association and the American Choral Directors Association. We are very pleased to be listed as semi-finalists, and also pleased to be in the company of the other choirs selected.”
